Review

The War of Souls Trilogy by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman consists of three books written in the world of DragonLance. It is a fantasy tale of humans, elves, trolls, kenders, and the like. What used to be a happy world with all the races working together is no longer. All races seem to be at war with one another, and nothing seems right to the adventurous kender, Tasslehoff Burrfoot.

The tale starts in the 627 page Dragons of a Fallen Sun. Mina walks the land and soon leads a vengeful army hell bent on destruction for the One True God. The kendar, Tasslehoff Burrfoot seeks out Palin in a future that no longer seems to be what he remembers.

The story continues in the 550 page Dragons of a Lost Star. King Silvanoshei has become enamored by Mina and gives his kingdom up for the false love of a woman. Palin and Tasslehoff continue to fight Mina, but everything they seem to do only leads to more trouble.

The story arc concludes in the 610 page Dragons of a Vanished Moon. No one can seem to stop Mina in her conquest as she wipes out races and dragons both.

This is a great trilogy. Even if you haven't read a DragonLance story before (like me),  you will still be able to understand everything in The War of Souls Trilogy. The newly released boxed set makes this the perfect time to pick up this entire well-written fantasy trilogy all at one time. This series is definitely worth the read. I rated this trilogy an 8½ out of 10.
