Review

Princess Sakura of Clow has a power deep within her. It is yet untapped, but it promises the change the world. Her best friend, Syaoran, and archaeologist, has just about finished unearthing a ruin and Sakura feels something pulling her toward it one night. When her memory is spread across different dimension by a mysterious power, Syaoran is sent to the Time-Space Witch with an unconscious Sakura in his arms. Meanwhile, in another dimension, in a country called Japan, Kurogane is a ninja for the princess. But his ruthless ways and disregard for human life, cause the princess to also send him to the Time-Space Witch so he can, hopefully, learn not to kill every person that stands in this way. On yet another dimension, in the country of Seresu, the Wizard of Seresu, Fai D. Flowright, feels the need to leave and travel to other dimensions. Upon his own will, he magically pops over to see the Time-Space Witch. Together, these three unlikely adventurers begin a journey together to seek out the lost memory of Princess Sakura which has been scattered like feathers to multiple dimensions. Many dimensions await them with many enemies. This is only the beginning . . .

Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE - Volume 1 is a manga book written and drawn by Clamp. This book was translated and adapted by Anthony Gerard and Lettered by Dana Hayward. This book contains Chapters 1 through 5. There is also some special extras in the following sections: Honorifics, About the Creators, Past Works, Dramatis Personae, Translation Notes, and a Preview of Volume 2, although the preview is in Japanese. The book reads from right to left and back to front, just like a book from Japan. This manga book is intended for readers ages 13 and up.

Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE - Volume 1 blew me away right from the beginning. The artwork by Clamp is excellent and the translation flows perfectly. The English is very easily understood and the storyline is explained well. All three of the main characters are very interesting and readers will love them all. They will love how Syaoran sacrifices any chance of having a relationship with Sakura just so he can save her. They will enjoy the volatile temper of Kurogane and his attempt to keep it all under control. The will also like the cool head and wisdom of Fai. I read a lot of Manga books by Del Rey, and this series has just jumped up into my top three (Negima! and Basilisk are the other two). I am very excited about the action and adventure that this series promises to have. I cannot wait to read more Tsubasa books and see what dimensions these three adventurers will travel to. I highly anticipate reading Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE - Volume 2. I can barely contain myself. Pick up a copy today, you will absolutely love it!

I rated this book a 9½ out of 10.
