Chocolat
and Vanilla are 10-year old witch girls from the Magical World and are
competing who will be the next Queen of the Magical World by winning
hearts. Pierre, the Ice Prince, is also from the Magical World and is
after only one thing . . . Chocolat's heart. Chocolat knows who he is
and realizes that if her takes her heart, she will die. Still, she
cannot help having feelings for him. Escaping from the evil Pierre's
clutches, Chocolat decides to defy Robin and travel back to the Magical
World to check things out and see how her grandpa is doing. While she is
back home, where she is very popular, Chocolat runs into her old
friends. She hangs out with them for a while and is very happy to be
home. Realizing that she still needs to win the contest, she heads back
to the human world to try and beat Vanilla in heart-collecting.

I really
find myself enjoying this collection of stories about two princesses
competing to be Queen of the Magical World. Being who I am, I feel more
for Vanilla, as she is the shy, quiet girl, while Chocolat is the loud
and obnoxious girl. What we learn in this book is how that neither of
these girls can give their heart away while in the human world. If they
do, they will die. Pierre knows this and is trying to get Chocolat's
heart. Well, that isn't very nice, is it? The artwork is well-drawn,
although I think that the eyes are just a tad too big and make the two
main girls look a little funny, and the story-telling is fun. Young
girls will love this story. I look forward to finding out what happens
next in Sugar
Sugar Rune: Volume
3.
