Review

The Star Wars Universe covers vast amounts of space filled with a multitude of droids. Of course, this all started with the first movie (Episode IV) released in 1977. Since then, three other movies were filmed Episodes V, VI and I), radio shows were performed, multitudes of books have been written, computer games have been designed, and many a comic book series have been drawn. All of the information on droids from all of these sources have been combined into a comprehensive source that will give any Star Wars enthusiast hours of fun reading.

Before the listing for all the droids is a Guide to Major Manufacturers. This section list 30 manufactures, gives a brief description of each, and lists all of the droids they manufacture. There is also a small ditty on Historical Droids, Inventors and Miscellaneous Alien Species.

The main section of this guide lists 100 different droids organized by the Type of droid they are.  This could be anything from an Astromech to Protocol to Military droid. Each droid is covered on two pages and has a thorough description of the droid, its functions, where is it used in the Star Wars Universe, an illustration of the droid, schematics, and a comparison to C-3PO or R2-D2 for size.

This book does a great job of informing the user everything they want to know about the Star Wars droids. The schematics are great and descriptions are very informative. I found that I enjoyed this book a lot more than The Essential Guide to Planets and Moons, which I though focused too much on what happened ont he planet or moon, rather than the body itself. If you love Star Wars and the droids in the films, books, comics, etc. interest you, this is the book for you.
