Review

At Seiyo Elementary, the Guardians consists of Amu Hinamori, a fifth-grade girl who sits in the "Joker" chair, Tadase Hotori, a fifth-grade boy that sits in the "King" chair, Nadeshiko Fujisaki, a fifth-girl that sits in the "Queen" chair, Kukai Souma, a sixth-boy that sits in the "Jack" chair, and Yaka Yuiki, a fourth-girl that sits in the "Ace" chair.

Now that Nikaidou has stolen all three of Amu's Guardian Characters, she can no longer call upon their power to transform. The rest of the Seiyo Elementary Guardians swear that they will help get Amu's Guardian Characters back. Nadeshiko's Guardian Character admits that Guardian Characters hava a not-so-reliable sort of radar where they can detect other Guardian Characters. The Guardians follow the unreliable radar to a television show is that is being taped starring the TV psychic, Nobuko Saeki. She is set to interview the pop star Utau Hoshina, who secretly works for the Easter Coorporation. But when Nobuko Saeki see the Guardian Characters, which most people cannot see, she freaks out. She decides to help Amu track her missing Guardian Characters and everyone, including Atua, hop in Nobuko Saeki's car. She is able to use her powers to track down Nikaidou. When he sees all of them, he is shocked to find that Atua is with the Guardians. Suddenly, Atua calls forth her X Character and attacks the Guardians. When Ikuto also appears, he kicks Nikaidou briefcase and two of Amu's Guardian Characters escape. Nikaidou takes the last one back to his laboratory where he plans on turning her into the Embryo because he cannot find the real Embryo. When Amu shows up at the lab, things don't quite go they way Nikaidou planned.

Shugo Chara!: Volume 3 is written and drawn by Peach-Pit. This story was Translated by Satsuki Yamashita , Adapted by Nunzio DeFilippis and Christina Weir and Lettered by North Market Street Graphics. There are also some sections in the book for: A) Honorifics Explained, B) About the Creators, and C) Translation Notes. The book read from right to left and back to front, just like a book from Japan. This manga book is intended for readers ages 13 and up.

Shugo Chara!: Volume 3 is chocked full of action and drama. From Amu fighting to get her Guardian Characters back to her caring for Ikuto when he gets beat up by some thugs. We also get to learn why Nikaidou is stealing X Characters. What drove him to this? Why can he see Guardian Characters since he is an adult? Both of these questions are answered in this volume. As for the story, it was highly enjoyable. I wondered how Amu would go about getting her egg-napped Guardian Characters back. Of course, I should have realized that her new friends, the rest of the Seiyo Elementary Guardians, would help. Go teamwork! Let me ask this, what parents wouldn't want their son creating real robots while in elementary school? I would think that something like this would lead to a job in engineering, a highly respectable field. The Translation and Adaptation from Japanese to English needs some tweaking. There are a lot of awkward phrases used in this book. So, I would be happy with a little more work in this department. The artwork by the two females that make up Peach-Pit is cool. So, overall, Shugo Chara!: Volume 3 is another great book in a fun-filled series that young readers can enjoy. With the bit of mystery thrown in at the end of the book by First King, I wonder what twists in the plot will occur in Shugo Chara!: Volume 4. All I know is that it should be a fun book to read.

I rated this book an 8 out of 10.
