Review

Najika Kazami's attends the Seika Academy in Tokyo. Her two friends Daichi and Sora, brothers, support her in all she does because they realize what a great cook she is. Akane is recovering from being sick and is now nicer to Najika. Akane's friends don't understand why she isn't trying to get Najika kicked out of school anymore and one of them decides that she will get rid of Najika. Her father is director of the PTA and she lies to him about the Fujitu Diner where Najika volunteers during lunchtime. The PTA closes down the diner and Najika is devastated until they trick the PTA into eating her food. Najika soon learns that her foster mother, Hagio, who lives in Hokkaido, is very sick and flies back to visit her with Daichi and Sora. The good news is that Hagio is only exhausted and will recover soon. A new foster child, Fuuta, whose parents recently died in a car accident, is having trouble adjusting to his loss. He is frustrated and angry and he reminds Najika of herself years ago when she lost her parents. She takes the boy under her wing and helps with him adjust to his new life. Najika confesses to Daichi that she has been looking for her Flan Prince and he states that he could not be him because this is his first visit to Hokkaido. When Sora overhears this conversation, he tells Najika that he must talk with her. Is Sora the Flan Prince? Najika hopes so . . .

Kitchen Princess: Volume 3 is a wonderful addition to this cute and fun-filled series. I highly enjoy the Kitchen Princess books as they are well-written and the artwork is top-notch. It was wonderful seeing the nicer side of Akane, but we all knew it wouldn't last long . . . and it didn't. She proved herself to be mean when she stole a present for Najika at the end of the book. As for Sora, I think he is the Flan Prince, but will have to wait to find out. Darn it! And Najika is her usual super nice self, always willing to help whomever is in need. Boy, if we all were that nice, the world would be a wonderful place to live. Kitchen Princess is turning out o be one of my favorite manga books that Del Rey Manga puts out. Overall, Kitchen Princess: Volume 3 is another excellent book that I read in one sitting. I swear, I just couldn't put it down. Boy, oh boy, I cannot wait to see if the Flan Prince is Sora in Kitchen Princess: Volume 4. I sure hope that we find out soon.

I rated this book an 9 out of 10.
