Who's Getting Sleepy?

"You are too smart for me, Mr. Bunny," Dr. Frankenstein said. "But you are not too smart for my pocket watch!" The doctor pulled a gold pocket watch from his lab coat. He dangled it in front of Bugs's eyes. The doctor was a master hypnotist. All he had to do was get Bugs to stare at his watch. Then he could put Bugs into a deep sleep and make him do whatever he wanted.

"Nice ticker you got there, Doc," Bugs said looking at the watch swing back and forth on its chain.

"You are getting sleepy, very sleepy," Dr. Frankenstein said.

"I was already sleepy," Bug said. "Until that Tasmanian lamebrain woke me up!"

Taz had tangled himself in the razor's cord and was now wrapped up like a birthday present. "Grrrrlaaafff," Taz said.

"As I was saying," Dr. Frankenstein said, swinging the watch slower and looking into Bugs's eyes. "You are getting verrrry sleepy."

Bugs looked at the watch. Then he looked back at the doctor. He yawned loudly and stretched his arms.

The doctor yawned, too. He couldn't help it.

"You look tired, Doc," Bugs said. "Too many late nights in the lab?"

Dr. Frankenstein's eyes started to close. Then he snapped them back open. "I am awake," he said. "But you, little bunny, you are getting verrrry sleepy."

"No," Bugs said. "You are getting verrrry sleepy."

"No, you are," said the doctor.

"No, you are," said Bugs.

"I command you to sleep," the doctor said.

"I command you to sleep," Bugs replied.

"SLEEEEEEP," said the doctor.

"SLEEEEEEP," said Bugs.

Bugs reached out and took the watch from Dr. Frankenstein. Now he was the one swinging it back and forth. The doctor's eyes started to spin. Then they shut. The doctor began to snore.

Review

On the WB Studio Lot, Bugs Bunny is trying to get some sleepy, but Taz is outside his window destroying things on the lot. Bugs comes up with the idea to send the Tasmanian Devil back to Dr. Frankenstein's castle just so he can get some sleepy. But just as Bugs Bunny fools Taz into standing in front of the Space Replacer, Taz grabs Bugs's foot and they are both sent back to the year 1818 in Transylvania. They have three hours to find the comfy chain in Dr. Frankenstein's top-secret vault so they can return home. When they run into the doctor, he believes that Taz is his long-lost lab assistant, Igor. Then he check's out Bugs Bunny's head and finds it a perfect match for his monster. He wants to put Bugs bunny's brain in the man he has created. Can Bugs Bunny outsmart this evil genius and get back home with his brain intact? Or will both he and Taz be stuck in the castle of a madman?

Frankentaz: An Electrifying Time in Transylvania is a book in the Looney Tunes Wacky Adventures series put out by Warner Bros. This book was written by Pam Pollack & Meg Belviso and illustrated by Duendes del Sur. This series is intended for young readers aged 7 to 9.

Poor Bugs Bunny. All he needs is some of his beauty sleepy. After all, he is the biggest star in the Looney Tunes cast. And Taz . . . he is always causing trouble. Mostly, he is just hungry. The entire time they were back in time to 1818, all Taz really wanted to do was eat food. Pam Pollack & Meg Belviso have created another fun story with two of the Looney Tunes wonderful characters. Frankenstein's monster is not scary at all, so kids will enjoy this story. Of course, the artwork by Duendes del Sur is excellent, like it is in all the other books. I just wish it was in color. The story is full of his fantastic pictures that help early chapters readers picture what is going on. Overall, Frankentaz: An Electrifying Time in Transylvania is a great book in a wonderful time-travel series starring the wacky characters from the early days of Warner Bros. Studio.

I rated this book an 8 out of 10.
