Synopsis

The story follows Cutter and his band of Wolfriders as they flee their forest home. They are tricked into crossing the desert by the Greymung the Shiftless, the Mighty King of the Trolls. After three tortuous days crossing the heated sands, they discover another tribe of elves living in a small village called Sorrow's End. There, Cutter meets his soul mate, but she is spoken for by Rayek. This only leads to trouble as other events unfold that cause more friction between the two tribes.

Fire and Flight is the a collection of the first five comic books in the ElfQuest series written by Wendy and Richard Pini and illustrated by Wendy Pini. Although the original comics were released in black and white, these pages have been colored to add enhancement to  Wendy Pini's detailed artwork.

ElfQuest is both excellently told and drawn with exquisite beauty. Wendy Pini is a very talented artist and really can take the reader deep into the story with the masterful stoke of her pencil. From beginning to end, the story is fast-paced and sucks you right in.

Review

I found that while I was reading Fire and Flight, I didn't want to put it down. I became totally engrossed in the storyline and couldn't wait to see what happened next. I have read a lot of comic books in my days, both good and bad, but Elfquest ranks right up there with some of the best Fantasy I have ever read.

The characters that Wendy and Richard Pini have created seem to leap right off the page and drawn the reader in their world. To say that I really liked reading this graphic novel would be incorrect. I loved reading this book.

If you enjoystupendous fantasy with elves, trolls, humans and the such, and you enjoy excellent artwork, then pick up this book and start reading. You will not regret it.

I rated this book a 10 out of 10.
