"Where are Scooby and Shaggy?"

"There they are," Velma said, pointing toward the road that circled the lake. "And they have company."

Scooby and Shaggy stood outside a hotdog truck, eating one hotdog after another. As they ate, they spoke to a man who wrote everything they said down on a pad. Fred, Daphne, and Velma hurried to join them. They arrived just in time to hear Shaggy say, "The monster was, like, horrible, man. It grabbed us and flung us around with its icky, slimy, disgusting webbed hands and . . ."

"And what?" the man prodded excitedly.

"And I'm out of hot dogs," Shaggy told him. "I don't remember things well when I'm starving."

"Ri reed ra rot rog, too," Scooby added.

"Scoob needs another one, too," Shaggy translated for the reporter, who hurried to the truck to buy more hot dogs.

Synopsis

Scooby-Doo's Super Case Book is a compilation of ten short stories written by Vivki Berger Erwin and Suzanne Weyn. Each case is around 15 pages and has a section after the main part of the story called "The Mystery is Revealed . . ." This section explains all of the clues listed in the story and who the bad person is. This book can be quite fun as the reader has to solve the mysteries by paying attention to the clues. The following is a brief synopsis of each short story:

The Case of the Sailing School Scare - The Scooby Gang is invited to go sailing on a lake. But when a 12-foot tall green monster rears its ugly head out of the lake, the gang must figure out why someone would try to put the Breezy Winds Sailing School out of business.

The Case of the Nightly Mare - The Scooby Gang arrive at a horse riding stable owned by Happy Trails. When the gang goes for a horse ride, they are attacked by a wild, white ghost horse and must figure out why the ranch is being haunted.

The Case of the Camp Terror - As camp councilors at Camp Terranova, the kids of Mystery, Inc. hear the legend of Baron Von Wolftrap wolfman. When the wolfman actually appears and chases Shaggy and Scooby, the gang must figure out if he is real or fake.

The Case of the Amusement Park Peril - The Scooby Gang have been called to investigate some strange happenings at an amusement park. But when Fred, Daphne, and Velma are almost killed on a roller coaster ride, they know that the culprit behind the accidents is serious.

The Case of the Haunted Shipwreck - Mystery, Inc. is hired by scuba boat captained by Fishy Wales to find out why business is not doing well. But when they talk to the owner of Waverly Waves Scuba Tours, they get fired. Fred decides to stay on the case anyway. Now, about those dancing ghosts . . .

The Case of the Hungry Bookworm - When Velma's aunt Dolores asks the Scooby Gang to check out a book eating ghost in the library, all are surprised by holes of paper found on the ground. Is a worm eating holes in the books?

The Case of the Musical Pirate - Rich Davies is building a hot new club in a lighthouse. Mystery, Inc. is hired to investigate a pirate that appears playing some fairly intense guitar licks. Who can be behind the musical pirate?

The Case of the Fashionable Phantom - At the Fashion Extravaganza being put on by Mr. Bruce, the Scooby Gang is hires to find out about the black phantom that has been causing problems with two previous shows, causing them to be canceled.

The Case of the Haunted Hallway - Ferd, Fred's little cousin, is going to summer school. The gang takes him to his first day of school and are almost run over by the children evacuation the school. It seems that a ghost is haunting the school and the gang from Mystery, Inc. must find out why anyone would want to haunt a school.

The Case of the Barbecued Beef - The Scooby Gang is invited to barbeque cook-off. But when a white bull charges between the stalls knocking over all of the barbeques, the gang must find out who is behind this dastardly trick.

Review

Scooby-Doo's Super Case Book is a fun collection of short stories that kids will enjoy solving. When I read a story to my daughter One mystery case a night for 10 nights, we would talk about the clues in each case and try to guess who the culprit was. Most of the time we were wrong, but sometimes we got it right. Having the reader try and figure out who did it added and extra bit of fun to the book.

Scooby-Doo's Super Case Book is probably aimed at 3rd to 5th graders, but can be enjoyed by all.

I rated this book a 7 out of 10.
