Synopsis

Captain Yellow Shoulder has a spaceship full of children and animals. They travel to different locations, often foiling the evil plans of Supermuscleman and his sidekick, Doc Krok.

In this book, Sardine and her friends have to help the monsters under the bed find a new home, put a stop to the evil Boring Bunny, go forward in time and appear as teenagers, learn how to fly with Purr Power, save the kidnapped daughter of the Sun King, go with Captain Yellow Shoulder to get some new tattoos, help a little lost rocket find its family, aid a writer in getting some new ideas, and a double story where they help the pep doctor get some infernal peaches from The Inferno.

Sardine in Outer Space 4 is a collection of short stories written by Emmanuel Guibert and drawn by Joann Sfar. It is a graphic novel starring some good guys (Captain Yellow Shoulder, Sardine, and Little Louie) and some bad guys (Supermuscleman and Doc Krok). This book was translated from French to English by Elizabeth Brizzi & Alexis Siegel and colored by Walter Pezzali. This book is intended for young readers ages 8 to 12.

Review

Sardine in Outer Space 4 is is another cute collection of stories about a space-traveling girl and her friends.

One of my favorites was when they became teenagers and Little Louie wants to kiss Sardine. Well, she sure puts him in his place. And my favorite surprise was when they went to The Inferno which looked a lot like Hell might with flame, heat, torture and a devil. But what made it so cool (get it . . . cool, as in not hot) was that the main entrance is guarded by Hellboy (of course his name was never used). But we all know it was him (see Graphic Novel Page above).

This collection of Sardine stories is the best yet. Supermuscleman and Doc Krok were not in this book as much as previous books, which opened up the stories to so many other villains and such.

Overall, Sardine in Outer Space 4 is a great addition to an already pretty awesome series. I can safely say that kids will enjoy reading these books, as I can attest to at the middle school I work at. They really love them.

I rated this book an 8½ out of 10.
