Stone
Rabbit and his friend, Andy, a dog-boy, are pretending to be wrestlers
in Stone Rabbit's house when they break a leg on the coffee table. As
they head into town to Tom's House of Wood on their mopeds, Andy is
distracted by the comic book store. In Jim Dandy Comic Emporium, Stone
Rabbit spots a wooden legs and learns from Milton, the comic book store
owner, that the leg once belonged to the infamous pirate captain
Barnacle Bob. Stone Rabbit promises Milton that he will not use it for a
table leg, but want to keep it as a souvenir.
Upon
returning home, Stone Rabbit tries to attack the peg leg to his table
and hits it with a hammer. The ghost of Barnacle Bob pours out of the
leg and then transports Stone Rabbit and Andy to his ghost ship,
Biscotti. Barnacle Bob turns Stone Rabbit, now called Mister
Longears, into his first mate. He then turns Andy, now called Mister
Wolf, into his cabin boy.
Admiral
Demski's ship, Eloise, fires a cannon ball at Biscotti,
which leads to a sea battle, although the ships appear to be floating in
the air, and are not on any sea or ocean anywhere. Mister Longears uses
a sword to defend himself and sends one of Admiral Demski's men back to
his watery grave. Mister Longears takes on the rest of the ghosts and
dispatches them all. Admiral Demski and Barnacle Bob sit down to play a
game of checkers while they discuss the terms of surrender. Mister Wolf,
who is swabbing the deck of the pirate ship, accidently bumps into a
cannon, which in turn fires a cannon ball and it lands on the checker
board, ruining the game.
Barnacle
Bob is about to make Mister Wolf walk the plank when Mister Longears
saves his friend. Landing in a rowboat, they row back to town and run
into Jim Dandy Comic Emporium. Barnacle Bob follows them to the comic
store with one thing on his mind. He is going to turn them into ghosts
so they can serve him forever. How will Stone Rabbit and Andy get of of
this terrible predicament?
Pirate
Palooza is the
second book in the Stone Rabbit series and is written and drawn by Erik
Craddock. Stone Rabbit is a graphic
novel about a quick-tempered (yet quick-witted) young rabbit, whose
experiences can best be described as a raging rollercoaster of epic
proportions. This book is intended
for early chapter readers ages 7 to 10.
