Synopsis

Babymouse is on her way to Camp Wild Whiskers for two weeks. This will be her first time at camp and she is excited. She thinks everything will be great, but right away she has problems. Her cabin, which is really a tent, is filled with girls who have all been to camp before. None of them seem to want to have anything to do with her. Her bunk is on the third tier and her cabin name is Buttercup.

There is a camp-wide competition and Babymouse wants the Buttercups to win. But time after time, Babymouse either gets in trouble or messes up, and the Buttercups keep losing points by Babymouse dropping a cup, hooking bracelets with Susie, shooting Susie in the rear with an arrow during archery, not making her bed, not swimming in the lake, turning over the canoe, and catching the forest on fire.

Determined to win, Babymouse decides to lead her team in the last competition: a scavenger hunt. Is it too later, or will the Buttercups win the whole thing?

Camp Babymouse is the sixth book in the Babymouse series and is written and drawn by sister and brother team Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm. This humorous book is a graphic novel about a young mouse and her and her ability to cope with everyday situations. This book is intended for girls ages 6 to 10.

Review

The Babymouse books are the perfect way to spend an afternoon having a great time. Camp Babymouse is unique in that we finally get to meet new characters, as Babymouse has left all of her friends at home while she has gone off to camp. Poor Babymouse, nothing ever seems to go her way. But she is a trooper, and keeps trying to do the best that she can.

Once again, the team of Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm have created something special that all can enjoy in Camp Babymouse. My 12-year old daughter absolutely loves these books and every time we get one she runs upstairs, jumps onto her bed, and doesn't move until she finishes the book. This would be my favorite Babymouse book so far because I love to go camping.

Overall, Camp Babymouse is a welcome addition to the wonderful Babymouse series that will leave you wanting more. So, put on your hiking boots, grab your canteen, and let your eyes take a walk through the pages of Camp Babymouse. I cannot wait to she how well Babymouse can ice skate in Babymouse: Skater Girl. Gee, I hope that she doesn't fall through the ice.

I rated this book a 9½ out of 10.
