Synopsis

Babymouse dreams of being a rock star. Why? Who doesn't? What brought this dream on is the fact that she is in band practice at school. The bad news is that she is absolutely horrible at playing the flute and is the worst player in the band. Her arch-nemesis, Felicia Furrypaws, is also in the band, and also plays the flute, but is slightly better than Babymouse.

Babymouse dreams of being able to play the flute beautifully. But the more she practices, the worse she gets. Last year, during the concert, she was last chair (a spot reserved for the worst player).

Babymouse is determined not to be last chair again this year. When she helps Penny Poodle, Penny reveals that she is a good flute player and begins to teach Babymouse how to play. The only question is whether Babymouse has enough time to improve enough to become a better musician than Felicia.

Babymouse: Rock Star is the forth book in the Babymouse series and is written and drawn by sister and brother team Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm. This humorous book is a graphic novel about a young mouse and her and her ability to cope with everyday situations. This book is intended for girls ages 6 to 10.

Review

Babymouse rocks! I absolutely love all of the day dreaming that she does. They are the best sequence in the book. And who doesn't want to be a rock star? I think everyone out there who like music, and isn't that just about everyone, dreams of becoming a famous musician.

Babymouse: Rock Star is another fun and entertaining book from the talents of Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm. This brother and sister team know how to please a young reader. My daughter, who is outside of the intended age group (at 12), absolutely loves the Babymouse books. And I can see why. They make you smile the entire time you are reading them.

Overall, Babymouse: Rock Star is an excellent addition to the Babymouse series and I cannot wait to find out what further adventures Babymouse has in Babymouse: Heartbreaker. Rock on, Babymouse!

I rated this book a 9 out of 10.
