Synopsis

Babymouse has a big problem . . . every day it is same thing. Get up, get dressed, brush her whiskers, eat breakfast, and run to catch the school bus. She wonders where all the glamour is in the things she does everyday.

She wants to be just like the girl that is considered the queen, Felicia Furrypaws. Felicia always looks so nice. Everyone want to talk with Felicia. She is the most popular student in school. Babymouse's best friend is Wilson the Weasel.

To help make her life a little more exciting, Babymouse finds herself daydreaming all the time. One time she is a queen, another time she is a private eye, and yet another time she is Cinderella. Babymouse also daydreams that she is a captain of a spaceship, a wild west hero, and the assistant to Dr. Frankenstein. All of these dreams help Babymouse survive the day to day struggle of school life.

One day she hears that Felicia is having a party. Babymouse waits for her invitation . . . and waits . . . and waits. It never comes. Felicia then bribes Babymouse to give her Babymouse's book report with the promise of giving her an invitation. Babymouse doesn't care that she isn't going to turn in a book report, she only cares about the party. But the party turns out to not be what Babymouse expected and she must make some hard decisions on what is really important to her.

Review

Right when I opened the cover to Babymouse: Queen of the World!, I knew I was going to enjoy this book. Babymouse makes me laugh and the brother and sister creative team made me want to read more and more.

When I let my 10-year old daughter borrow the book, she liked it so much that she finished it in bed that night and then read the second book in the series: Babymouse: Our Hero. She asked me if I had another book, and unfortunately, I didn't. She was disappointed that more books hadn't come out yet, but let me know that she wanted to read them when they were published.

As for the book itself, the artwork is fun and kids will love the style. The writing is quick and very entertaining. Young girls will absolutely love Babymouse.

Overall, Babymouse: Queen of the World! is an excellent book and should be read for some great reading fun. I look forward to more adventures of Babymouse in Babymouse: Our Hero.

I rated this book a 9 out of 10.
