Synopsis

Babymouse has a big problem . . . again. She learns that she is going to have to play . . . DODGEBALL next week! Of course, she has already had a pretty rotten day when she hears this, and she knows that she isn't fast enough to dodge the ball that will be flying at her at the speed of sound. She knows that she is going to get beaned! She tries to get out of it be playing sick, but that doesn't work. She even forgets her gym sneakers.

The evil Felicia Furrypaws is the best dodgeball player at school. Wilson can see that Babymouse is scared and tries to help her get better at the sport, but it is no use. Babymouse just isn't any good at dodging and throwing a big rubber ball.

The day is fast approaching and Babymouse truly wants to be the hero and win the game for her team, but she knows she stands little chance against Felicia. Now, if only she could remember her gym sneakers . . .

Babymouse: Our Hero is the second book in the Babymouse series and is written and drawn by sister and brother team Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm. This humorous book is a graphic novel about a young mouse and her and her ability to cope with everyday situations. This book is intended for girls ages 7 to 10.

Review

Again and again I fall in love with the Babymouse books. This anxiety-ridden rodent sure makes me laugh. I love her imagination and how it takes her away from the bad things she experiences in life . . like waking up for school, missing the school bus, walking to school, trouble with her locker, and having to play Dodgeball.

The artwork is fun and kids will love the fast pace of the book. The storytelling is excellent and I enjoy the overall feel of the series.

Babymouse: Our Hero is another exceptional book by Jennifer L. Holm & Matthew Holm. I can't wait to see what they come up with next. Go, Babymouse, go . . . surf those wild waves in Babymouse: Beach Babe.

I rated this book a 9 out of 10.
