Synopsis

Babymouse dreams of surfing the perfect wave. Unfortunately, even in her day dreams, she catches a huge wave, but wipes out pretty badly. Happy that school is over for the summer, she heads home and finds out that the family is going to the beach for a few days. Wahoo!

The drive in the car to the beach is going well until Babymouse's little brother gets car sick and throws up on her. Yuck! Having only read about surfing, she takes her board out into the waves, and, of course, wipes out. The next day, she falls asleep on her blanket and gets fried by the sun.

On the third day, she tries snorkeling. That doesn't really work out as well as she hoped. As for what happens on the fourth day . . . you just won't believe it.

Babymouse: Beach Babe is the third book in the Babymouse series and is written and drawn by sister and brother team Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm. This humorous book is a graphic novel about a young mouse and her and her ability to cope with everyday situations. This book is intended for girls ages 7 to 10.

Review

Babymouse makes me laugh. I can't tell you how good these books are, but my 11-year old daughter gets sooo excited when she sees these books that she will run upstairs and read it from cover to cover right away. Any book that does that makes a parent feel good that their child is interested in reading.

Girls love Babymouse as they can relate to what Babymouse is going through. We all daydream. We all want to be super at everything we try. Although in her daydreams,

Babymouse is a superstar, in real life she does not quite measure up. Isn't that true will all of us? Babymouse books touch something deep inside us . . . the longing to be good at the things we try, but often are not on the first attempt.

Once again, Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm have written and drawn another wonderful story that kids, especially girls, will love. I can't wait to read the next book in the Babymouse series, Babymouse: Rock Star. Surf's Up!

I rated this book a 9 out of 10.
