Ten years
have passed since a spontaneously generated virus swept the word. This
"D" virus infects the host and transforms them into murderous monsters
known as "Dracules." During the 10 years that followed, known
as the Dracule War period, 67% of the world's population died. Some
humans were not affected by the virus and rose up to fight against the
monsters. Forty years after the war ended, an anti-Dracule organization
was created and formed VIUS, Epidemic Preventing City System. Laila Mikami
hopes that she can qualify to become a member of VIUS. During their
first test, she is partnered with Issa Kazuma, a boy who doesn't seem to
be paying attention. He proves her wrong when he notices that the
Dracules are level 3 and he declares that he is an enlistment exam
inspector. After the battle, Issa appoints Laiki to Squad Zero, in which
he is captain. This squad is known to be Dangerous, Difficult and
Distinguished. Now, they just have to build up the rest of their team,
as they are currently the only two members.

I found Dragon
Eye: Volume 1 to be a totally cool manga book. I loved the artwork
by Kairi Fujiyama and his storywriting is excellent also. To me, this is
kind of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer kind of book. The Dracules look kind
of like vampires, and I love any book about killing vamps. The main
character, Issa Kazuma, has a great amount of power. On his forehead is
the Dragon Eye, which he covers most of the time with his long bangs. We
don't know a lot about the Dragon Eye yet, except that it gives Issa a
ton of power. He is a wonderful main character and I cannot wait to
learn more about him. As the squad grows, the other characters that join
are also very intriguing, making the reading of this book highly
enjoyable. Hey, this just might be my favorite new action, manga series
that Del Rey Manga is publishing. Keep graphic novels like this coming
out and everyone will soon be reading manga books. I loved it. Overall, Dragon
Eye: Volume 1 is a wonderful beginning to a new series that promises
a ton of action and interesting characters. I am so excited, I cannot
wait to see what happens in Dragon
Eye: Volume 2.
