Synopsis

Hime is a princess who is the daughter of the king who stands above all monsters. She has the power to make someone semi-immortal. If you are dead and drink some of her blood, you can live again, but you are dependent upon her blood to survive.

First, the Army of the Pharaoh is on the march and they are heading for Hime's house. Hundreds of mummies enter the house and Hiro, Flande and Riza have to fight them off. Hime would help, but she is sick and passes out in the middle of the battle.

Second, one night, when Riza is riding her motorcycle, a headless horseman approaches her from behind and knock her off the bike. Hiro dies again and ends up in the morgue where Zeppeli appears to be working. Zeppeli has the head of the horseman, which he just purchased from a merchant. Riere shows up, takes both Hiro and the head, and flies out to where Riza is battling the headless horseman.

Third, Sherwood has bought a house on the other side of the city. Hiro is tasked with taking a house-warming present to Hime's sister, but when he arrives, he is attacked by spider-bats, which are attacking Sherwood's new house. Sherwood's newest blood warrior shows up, which is a panda that recently died at the local zoo, to help fight off the hoard.

Lastly, while out cruising on a boat, Hime, Riza and Hiro pick up an SOS signal just before their boat smashing into an ancient ghost ship. Luckily, they are able to get about the ghost ship before their boat sinks. The meet a werewolf named Keziah Bold on board, who's fishing boat sunk three days ago, and he an Riza become friends. When the zombie's attack, the two werewolves fight them off working together. Hime deduces that there is a mermaid on board, and she is the one who has been playing the music in the form of an SOS. When they find her locked in a cabin, she is in the form of a young, human girl. As the ship begins to sink, Hime's brother, Onii or Emil Nii, appears with his giant robot. Keziah grabs the mermaid and takes her to Onii. Onii then calls Hime by her real name, Lilianne, which she doesn't like. As he leaves, he proclaims that he has no interest in the throne, he just wants to stay alive.

Review

Princess Resurrection: Volume 3 is another wonderful bit of manga. I love all the wacky creatures that are always attacking the princesses. I do wonder why Hime isn't training Hiro to be a better fighter. He is her blood warrior, after all, but has absolutely no fighting skills. Maybe that is why he keeps dying. I would love to see him get some training so he can properly defend his master.

The writing of the stories is great and the translation and adaptation from Japanese to English is fantastic. The dialog flows very well, which is something I enjoy.

As for the manga itself, it is perfect for this type of story. I believe that Yasunori Mitsunaga art has actually improved as the series has progressed. I greatly anticipated reading this book, and I wasn't disappointed. I read the book in one sitting and couldn't put it down.

I guess the series is rated 16 and older for the violence, but I wouldn't have a problem letting my 13-year old daughter read this series because there isn't any sex in it, like in so many other manga books.

Princess Resurrection is quickly becoming one of my favorite manga series.

Princess Resurrection: Volume 3 is an excellent manga book and absolutely loved it. All of the wacky characters are wonderful and the mystery of who will someday sit on the throne is intriguing. I look forward to more battles with the undead in Princess Resurrection: Volume 4. Maybe we will get to meet another one of Hime's siblings? Let's hope so. More blood will flow, I'm sure.

I rated this book a 9 out of 10.
