Synopsis

My Anxieties Have Anxieties is a collection of Peanuts comic strips written and drawn by Charles M. Schulz. This book includes cartoons the years 1967, 1968 & 1969. These comic strips originally appeared in the smaller paperback books You're You, Charlie Brown and You've Had It, Charlie Brown. All of the comic strips appear in black and white.

This collection contains the following storylines: I'm Upside Down, Dear-Heart, Petaluma, Paw Power, Snoopy the Olympic Ice Skater, My Year, Linus Vs. the True/False Test, Pound the Erasers, National Cat Week, Forfeit, Snoopy Hears Noises at Night, Prairie Dog, Lila, I Hate Your Piano, First Beagle on the Moon, Franklin, Teachers on Strike, and Snoopy & Peppermint Patty - Ice Skating Partners.

On October 2, 1950, Peanuts debuted in seven newspapers and ran until January 3, 2000 when Charles M. Schulz bid a fond farewell to all his readers in the final daily Peanuts newspaper strip. On February 12, 2000, Charles Schulz died on a Saturday evening, of complications from colon cancer in Santa Rosa, CA. He was 77 years old. On February 13, 2000, the final Sunday Peanuts newspaper strip appeared. "Charles M. Schulz (b. 1922) is the most widely syndicated cartoonist in history, with his work appearing in over 2,300 newspapers. He has published more than 1,400 books, won Peabody and Emmy awards for his animated specials, and is responsible for the most-produced musical in the American theatre, entitled "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown". And all this diversity and recognition and continuous success began over 50 years ago." (Illustration House)

Review

My Anxieties Have Anxieties introduces one new character to the Peanuts world: Franklin. Franklin is an African-American boy who visits Charlie Brown's block and decides that it is full of weirdoes. It has been a few years since I sat down and read a Peanuts book as I have been spending a lot of time reviewing DelRey Manga books.

I was quite happy when I cracked open My Anxieties Have Anxieties and started reading about these very familiar characters. It was like putting on a favorite coat that I haven't worn in years. Although I was very familiar with all the comic strips in this book, it was still nice to read them again. The creations of Charles M. Schulz were a large part of my life growing up as I read the books I owned over and over again. I love the entire Peanuts gang and they will be with me the rest of my life.

So, if you are looking for a few laughs, pick up a copy of My Anxieties Have Anxieties. You can generally find it on eBay, since it no longer in print. Just look up "Peanuts Parade."
