Synopsis

Sakaki begs Mine to help him kill Isaac. She finally agrees with him so she can prevent Isaac from killing any more people. Akiba finds Isaac first on a rooftop. Isaac is still causing all the people on the street to riot. Isaac and Akiba begin a battle of the minds. Isaac uses up more of his essence and ages dramatically. When Akiba approaches him, Isaac is able to switch minds with Akiba and watches as his old body burns with Akiba's mind in it.

Meanwhile, Sakaki and Mine, who have been searching the rooftops for Akiba, spot the fire. Rushing over to that building, they find the charred remains of Isaac with Akiba standing over it holding a gun. Thinking it is Akiba with the gun, Mine approaches him and he grabs her holding the gun to her head. Isaac escapes and returns to his old home where he kills his surrogate father and rapes his surrogate mother.

Sakaki and Mine return to the lab when they learn that Akiba has somehow transferred his mind to Mine. She also realizes that she is linked to Isaac's mind. Mine wants to use this power to enter Isaac's mind and finish him off once and for all. Strapped to a machine with Sakaki supervising, she and Akiba enter Isaac's mind. What she finds in there will haunt her forever. Will she and Akiba be strong enough to kill Isaac in the place where he has the most power?

Review

ES (Eternal Sabbath): Volume 8 is the final book in this dark series about the paranormal. This storyline comes to its conclusion with a battle with Isaac, the young ES boy who has been on a killing rampage.

Fuyumi Soryo does an excellent job in finishing this evil and horrifying series.

Once again, his artwork is wonderful and the story is perfect. How to kill Isaac? Well, I can think of a ton of different ways. The story has twists and turns that I did not see coming, which kept me reading until late in the night.

At the end of the book, I let out a big sigh and a smile of satisfaction crossed my face. The ending of the series was just what I needed and it was done well. I will miss the Eternal Sabbath series. I remember that I struggled with these books at the beginning because everyone seemed so glum. But by the time I read book 3, I really got into the story and have loved it ever since.

Overall, ES (Eternal Sabbath): Volume 8 is an excellent story and a fitting end to this series. Thank you for this manga series, Fuyumi Soryo. I quite enjoyed it.

I rated this book a 9 out of 10.

I rated this series an 8½ out of 10.
